Public Radio Stations

These stations depend primarily on funding from the listening public (hence the name). They are generally commercial free and the programming is often art and education oriented with special talk and music segments that get little or no attention on commercial radio. Jazz, blues, and classical music are popular.

Most public radio stations incorporate programming from networks such as National Public Radio (NPR). Commonly, public radio is also associated with the local higher educational institution.
