Blues Radio

Blues is a vocal and instrumental form of music based on the use of the blue notes and a repetitive pattern that most often follows a twelve-bar structure. It emerged in African-American communities of the United States from spirituals, praise songs, field hollers, rhymed Scots-Irish narrative ballads, shouts, and chants.

The use of blue notes and the prominence of call-and-response patterns in the music and lyrics are indicative of the blues' West African pedigree.

The blues influenced later American and Western popular music, as it became part of the genres of ragtime, jazz, bluegrass, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, hip-hop, and pop songs.

Electronica Radio Stations

Electronica is a term that covers a wide range of electronic or electronic-influenced music. The term has been defined by some to mean modern electronic music that is not necessarily designed for the dance floor, but rather for home listening. The term subsequently gained a life of its own, and became popular in the United States as a means of referring to the then-novel mainstream success of post-rave global electronic dance music.

In the mid-1990s, electronica began to be used by MTV and major record labels to describe mainstream electronic dance music made by such artists as Orbital (who had previously been described as Ambient or Techno) and The Prodigy, although even at this stage it was not a particularly incisive term.

It is currently used to describe a wide variety of musical acts and styles, linked by a penchant for overtly electronic production; a range which includes more popular acts such as Björk, Goldfrapp and glitchy experimental artists such as Autechre, Aphex Twin, and Boards of Canada to dub-oriented downtempo, downbeat, and trip-hop.

World Tropical Radio Stations

Tropical is essentially a catch-all term for modernized Latin music emanating from the Caribbean -- places like Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic (though not the inland areas of Mexico). Salsa, merengue, and cumbia are the most popular rhythms in tropical music, although it includes ballads as well as uptempo dance numbers.

While tropical draws on traditional musical forms, its sound and sensibilities are contemporary -- it may employ electronic instruments like synthesizers and drum machines, and it is generally geared toward Latin pop radio and/or dance clubs.

Hard Rock Radio

Hard rock is a variation of rock and roll music which has its earliest roots in mid-1960s garage and psychedelic rock. It is typified by a heavy use of distorted electric guitars, bass guitar and drums.

The term "hard rock" is often used as an umbrella term for genres such as punk, grunge and heavy metal in order to distinguish them from the more radio-friendly pop rock genre. Popular among teenagers in 1970s, 1980s, 1990s. The maximum peak of mainstream popularity was reached in 1980s.
